Welcome Friends!
I am Ciera Thompson. Lover of God. Wife for a decade. Mother of two young boys with a baby girl on the way. And last but not least, Keeper of the farmstead. I am SO glad you are here!
My hope is for this to be a place of encouragement. My plan is to take you along with me on this wild ride of life. This space will be real, raw and as authentic as your favorite Mexican Restauraunt. Join me as I navigate motherhood, cook quality food from scratch and run this homestead mostly on my own. I want you to know you can do anything you set your beautiful mind to.
My Favorite verse!
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7

It’s okay to change with the seasons.

But, who are you?
Unappolgetically, this is who I am in a very small nutshell.
Hi there, I am Ciera Thompson. Born and raised in Northeast Oklahoma. I married the love of my life in November 2014 and moved to Central Arkansas. We immediately started collecting dogs and growing our one acre homestead after purchasing our first home. We started with chickens(the homestead gateway drug), bought pigs to growout every year, raised meat rabbits and got into milk goats. He became a lineman and I attended nursing school while also waiting tables. During my second to last semester of obtaining my BSN, I realized that I was not happy being a nurse. I did not believe in many of the practices I saw in the field. Our healthcare system is completely broken (more on that later). Getting a mandatory flu shot in order to keep my job was not something I was willing to do for the rest of my life. I had many talks with God and knew it was the right decision for me to leave nursing school. Fast forward to 2020, Cole was given an amazing job opportunity and left to work in California. He literally rode to work dangling from a helicopter… I had A LOT of animals to care for and a stable, well paying job at the time. Going with him just wasn’t an option for me.
THEN Covid happened. The short story is, I moved back home to be closer to my family. Cole came back home after 5 months of barely seeing each other. We sold our one acre home in Arkansas and purchased our 45 acre homestead in my hometown. Not long after that, I became pregnant with Holt and our lives changed for the better. We now have two wonderful boys, I still work full time for that stable well paying job in Arkansas, all while running our homestead. Cole is still a lineman and pulls more than his weight around here when he is home, but his job is unfortunately at the will of the weather. He follows the storms. Following him in a camper was an option, but not a stable environment for the boys and I. On our farm, we raise and harvest all of our meat. In 2023, I started my first small garden and dipped my toes in the canning world. I love to cook from scratch, I’ve had an obsession for animals since birth and my newest found passion is raising my boys in a slower, more intentional, environment. I want them to know where their food comes from and not be afraid of the hard work it takes.
